👇Slower than usual to leave the ‘gondola barn’🙃 my latest ‘carry-on size’ vintage gondola encaustic & mixed media paintings should arrive in Whistler in time for the family day long weekend coming up assuming all goes well with the finishing touches/transport🤞

🎨This is the first time I’ve done a vertical triptych. I was a bit stuck until I abandoned the idea to make the ‘haul ropes’ line up horizontally in addition to vertically🙃🤷‍♀️

In the fall of 1965 Whistler, previously known as London Mountain, installed a four-person gondola, chairlift and 2 T-bars.
The ski area officially opened for skiing on January 15, 1966.
Getting there involved taking a dirt logging road that was only plowed on Saturdays😬

These vintage 🚡s are based on the original ones installed on Whistler Mountain at it’s inception.

✨ Love how the shapes made by the mountain ski runs and their reflections have a tendency towards abstraction that is accentuated when the two 12 x 24 s hang side by side at the reels end.
